Minnesota’s Candidates for Governor Make Their Case to the Business Community
On October 5, the Economic Club of Minnesota hosted DFL U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth in back-to-back appearances, just a month before Election Day. Each candidate gave brief remarks and then answered questions from a former dean of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, Sri Zaheer. The event was not a debate, but it gave members of the business community a chance to hear directly from each candidate.
The conversation covered growing Minnesota’s economy, cutting red tape, taxes, affordability, workforce, and fraud in state programs. Both candidates called fraud a top economic concern and pledged greater accountability.
