Richard K. Davis, age 51, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bancorp, a financial holding company with more than $266 billion in total assets and businesses across the United States, Canada and Europe. It is the parent company of U.S. Bank, which has 2,850 full-service banking offices and 5,173 ATMs in 24 states. U.S. Bancorp is also the parent company of Elavon, a leader in the payment processing industry. U.S. Bancorp is headquartered in Minneapolis.
Davis become CEO of U.S. Bancorp in 2006, and has been a senior executive with the organization since 1993, most recently as president and chief operating officer. His strategic vision has and continues to influence the company’s consumer banking, wholesale banking, private client, trust, asset management, risk management and payments businesses. He chairs U.S. Bancorp’s managing committee, the 13 highest ranking executives within the organization.
Davis has 33 years of experience in the banking industry and was one of the key leaders in the successful mergers of Firstar Corporation with U.S. Bancorp of Minneapolis in 2001, Firstar Corporation with Mercantile Bancorporaton Inc. of St. Louis in 1999, and Star Banc Corporation of Cincinnati with Firstar in November, 1998. Before the Star/Firststar merger, Davis was an executive vice president at Star Banc Corporation from November, 1993.
Before joining U.S. Bancorp and its predecessors, Davis was executive vice president at Bank of America and Security Pacific Bank, both located in Los Angeles.
Davis serves on the boards of the Minnesota Orchestra, Minneapolis YMCA, Minneapolis Art Institute, Financial Services Roundtable, University of San Diego, Xcel Energy, The Business Council, International Monetary Conference (IMC), Federal Advisory Council, Financial Services Forum, Minnesota Business Partnership (executive committee) and U.S. Bancorp.
Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from California State University at Fullerton, and is married and the father of three adult children.
